These terms describe the permitted use of the MICHITAI CHEATS website at cheats.michitai.com and the tools offered here, including the Windows Dawn of Man save editor. They do not apply to unrelated services elsewhere on michitai.com. Publisher and contact information is provided alongside this page.

The tools are provided free of charge for lawful personal gameplay and authorized multiplayer use, subject to the permitted-use conditions below and each tool’s supported features. The website does not provide accounts, paid subscriptions, or payment processing. Read these terms and the instructions before running a tool; if you do not agree to the permitted-use conditions, do not download or run it.

Permitted gameplay use

You may download and run the tools for lawful personal gameplay, including authorized multiplayer use where the game terms and server rules permit it. Use only saves, worlds, and servers that you own or are authorized to modify, and obtain the owner’s or administrator’s permission when required. You are responsible for having lawful access to the game and checking all rules that apply to your use. Availability of a tool is not a statement that a game publisher permits every modification or that the tool supports multiplayer.

Do not use these tools to violate game or server rules, bypass anti-cheat systems, gain unauthorized access, or interfere with other players, worlds, servers, or services without authorization. Permission from an owner or administrator does not authorize anti-cheat bypass or override applicable law or game terms. Do not use the website to distribute malicious material or disrupt its operation.

The Dawn of Man download includes the MICHITAI CHEATS project’s BSD 3-Clause License with the Commons Clause condition in its LICENSE file. That license governs copying, modification, and redistribution of the software, including its notice requirements and restriction on selling the software as defined there. These website terms do not replace the supplied license or take away permissions it grants. Other downloads may carry their own licenses; read the license included with each tool. Rights granted by applicable law remain unaffected.

Independent tools and game rights

MICHITAI CHEATS is an independent project, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the developers or publishers of Dawn of Man. Game names and other identifying references are used to explain compatibility. Games, trademarks, and game assets remain the property of their respective rights holders.

A download does not include ownership of the game or permission to copy or distribute game assets. Editing a save does not transfer any rights held by the game publisher or other third parties.

How the editor works

The Dawn of Man tool runs locally on Windows using Python and Tkinter. It reads saves from a local folder and lets you change supported values before writing the selected save. It does not upload saves or include built-in telemetry.

The run.bat launcher checks for Python and, if needed and available, attempts installation through winget. Its installation command automatically accepts package and source agreements. Review the script and relevant third-party terms before running it, or install a suitable Python version yourself. Installing dependencies can use the network and change your computer; third-party software remains subject to its own terms.

Back up before editing

Keep an independent, known-good copy of your saves before using the editor. Close the game before writing changes and check any cloud-sync settings to reduce conflicting writes or replacement of files. Test changes on a copy rather than your only record of progress.

The editor attempts to create an initial .bak file beside the selected save before writing, but only if that backup path does not already exist. An existing .bak is not refreshed on each save. This is not a version history, a verified recovery service, or a substitute for your own backups.

Editing can produce invalid saves, unexpected game behavior, or loss of progress. Game updates, mods, save formats, Python versions, permissions, and operating-system differences may affect compatibility. A successful write or backup message does not guarantee that the game will load the result or that a backup will restore the state you intended.

Availability and support

Tools and instructions are supplied as available. To the extent permitted by applicable law, no promise is made that they will be error-free, continuously available, fit a particular purpose, or work with every game version or computer. There is no guaranteed schedule for support, bug fixes, or future compatibility updates.

Downloads and website features may change or be withdrawn. This does not remove any obligations or remedies that applicable law requires, and it does not authorize interference with files already on your computer.

Responsibility and mandatory rights

You decide which files to edit and which changes to apply, and are responsible for taking reasonable backup and compatibility precautions. To the extent permitted by law, MICHITAI CHEATS disclaims liability for loss of save data or progress, incompatibility, and indirect or consequential loss arising from use of these free tools.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits mandatory consumer rights, statutory guarantees, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. This includes liability for fraud and, where applicable, death or personal injury caused by negligence. Any disclaimer applies only to the extent the law permits it; making a tool free does not remove protections that otherwise apply.

External websites and downloads

Links open destinations in your browser. Third-party websites, package sources, Python installers, game services, and cloud-sync providers operate under their own terms and privacy policies. A link is not a guarantee of their content, security, availability, or suitability. Check the destination and software source before proceeding.

The Privacy Policy explains the distinction between website request information, local save processing, and third-party network activity. These terms do not give permission for new personal-information processing merely because you use a tool.

Changes and questions

Updated terms will be published here with a revised effective date. Review the current terms when downloading a new version or using a changed service. Updates do not retroactively remove accrued rights or override notice or agreement requirements imposed by law.
